Thank you for indicating you would like to join Georgia Highlands Mentoring Program. By accepting this agreement, you are committed to being an active mentor, and will follow the guidelines outlined here.

Eligibility of Use

The Program, or portions thereof, is available to authorized members of the GHC community, including but not limited to alumni and students, as well as other members of the GHC community authorized by the University in its sole discretion, and is subject to the terms set forth in these Terms and Conditions (the 'Policy'). Your use of the Program indicates you accept the terms set forth in this Policy and agree to abide by them. GHC reserves the right to and may in its sole discretion, from time to time, modify the Program. Your continued use of the Program, after modifications, indicates your acceptance of the modification and the applicability of the Policy to your continued use thereof.

Confidentiality of Participant Information

All participants agree to keep all contact, personal, and any additional information obtained through this Program confidential. The unauthorized sharing of personal information by mentors or mentees may be grounds for removal from the Program, though participants acknowledge that GHC shall not be responsible or liable for the unauthorized disclosure of such personal information by participants or other third parties.

As a GHC Mentor, Coach, Judge, or Speaker affiliated with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, you may participate in monthly meetings, coaching sessions, pitch events, classroom engagements, workshops, or competitions where confidential and proprietary information related to student ventures may be shared. You agree to keep all such information strictly confidential and will not disclose it to any third party without prior written permission from the source of the information.

You agree to respond to mentoring or coaching requests in a timely manner and to schedule and attend meetings, coaching sessions, judging commitments, or speaking engagements within the parameters and expectations of the program. These roles may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing mentorship or coaching to student teams or ventures
  • Serving as a judge for pitch competitions or innovation challenges
  • Speaking at classes, workshops, panels, or Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center events
  • Offering feedback, guidance, and industry insight to support student learning and venture development

We request that mentors, coaches, judges, and speakers not engage in any compensated relationship with a student-affiliated venture or team, including but not limited to equity, options, deferred compensation, commissions, or paid consulting. Your primary interest in serving in this role must not be to scout for investment opportunities, new clients, or employment.

The key element of this policy is communication and transparency. In some cases, individuals may develop a strong interest in a particular venture and wish to invest in or formally join a student team. If you are considering any form of formal relationship with a GHC student team or venture, you must notify the School of Business and Professional Studies Dean immediately. You must recuse yourself from mentoring, coaching, judging, or evaluating that team and await review and approval by the Dean before taking any further action.

For mentoring and coaching engagements, we recommend that the first meeting be held virtually. Following the initial meeting, you and the student(s) may determine whether future meetings will occur virtually or by phone. Face-to-face meetings are permitted only during GHC-sanctioned events specifically designed for mentors, coaches, judges, and speakers. A minimum of one meeting per month is required for active mentoring or coaching relationships; additional meetings are encouraged as appropriate.

Acknowledgment:

I acknowledge that I am voluntarily releasing my name, contact details, employment information, and other relevant information to GHC for the purposes of matching me with a mentee. I will use the mentee information that is released to me in good faith and solely for the purpose of my participation in the Program. I will not disclose information about my mentee to anyone other than the University without my mentee’s consent.

Any violation(s) of this Policy may result in immediate dismissal from the program indefinitely. You agree that GHC, in its sole discretion, may terminate your account (or any part thereof) or use of the Program, and remove and discard any Content within the Program, for any reason, including, without limitation, for lack of use or if GHC believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the terms of this Policy.
